Slow growing, with small green leaves that turn yellow in autumn. Bark corky, forming a somewhat rounded crown. One of the best small-crowned street trees and a valuable hedge plant. Tolerates wind and chalky soil better than any other maple. Its superficial root system makes it a good plant for preventing erosion.
